I always thought that it was illegal for a non registered person to do sanitary plumbing on their own house but according to this act a home owner can perform sanitary plumbing work on their own house or any rental property they own!
Can anyone shed any light on this? Seems strange to me!

I cant seem to find in the act if a craftman 'certifying' plumber has to test installations? I see they do for exempt workers.. but no reference for registered persons? Also whats the employer licence?

Hi guys,

Regarding homeowners doing plumbing, the wording is the same as the last Act. They can only do it if the Minister gazettes it(i.e Notifies this in the Gazette publication) and has the approval of the local authority whose area it is in. \

I'm a plumber, gasfitter, drainlayer and an inspector and we had a court case where someone tried to use this section of the old Act. Only problem for him was that it had never been gazetted therefore didn't apply  Grin.
