Well the new fees have been gazetted and take effect 1 August 2010.
Fees for registration as a licensed plumber (i.e. first time applicant) = $500
Fees for registration as a certifying plumber (i.e. moving from licensed to certifying) = $500
Fees for both categories of gasfitter as above
Fees for both categories of drainlayer as above
Fee for issue of a certificate of registration $50 (this is non negotiable you now HAVE to have a certificate of registration issued)
Fee for an addition or alternation tot he Register $50

Note that what the compromise appears to be is that this $500 fee will include the relevant licese fee for the first year the registered person would be licensed and include the fee for the issue of a certificate of registration.

So it used to be - $85 for registration, + $50 for the licence (if you wanted it) + $205.00 licence + $55 disciplinary, now it will be $500.00 + $266 disciplinary.  (Old total$395.00 - new total $766!!)

The licence fee for all categories has dropped to $100.00 in all categories.
Trainees licenses remain at nil
Application for an exemption in all categories $100
Employer Licenses $500 (this is too cheap in my opinion!)
Disciplinary Levy - $266.00 (regardless of the number of licenses held).
Exam fees remain at $300
Fee for reconsideration of an examination fee $100
Re-audit fees $135.00

Well people what do you think about that?

Just read the fees!

I'm a Plumber and Drainlayer. This year my fees cost $410.

Yes they've dropped the licence fee but with the increase on the disciplinary levy I'm up for $466.

You only win if you pay for 3 licences the way I see it.

Also if your an apprentice going through as a plumber, gasfitter and drainlayer you'll end up paying $3000 by the time your qualified just to become registered. As an example you need to become a licenced plumber first($500), then to become a Certifing plumber another $500. Do this for gasfitting and drainlaying as well..... this is on top of apprentices paying their own fees!

When I did my apprenticeship it was all free! They're certainly putting barriers in the way of young people!
